Nagaland COVID-19 tally crosses 21K-mark

228 new cases, 195 recover from infection

Nagaland’s COVID-19 cases breached the 21,000-mark on Thursday with 228 new COVID-19 cases, which took the State’s tally to 21,023.

Earlier, on May 23, the State’s caseload crossed the 20K mark with confirmation of 223 fresh cases which took the tally to 20,068. The 21K milestone on Thursday indicates an accumulation of over a thousand COVID-19 cases in a span of just 4 days.

According to an update from State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, the new cases were reported from the districts of Dimapur (98), Kohima (54), Mokokchung (25), Tuensang (20), Phek (15), Zunheboto (6), Wokha (4), Longleng (2), Mon (2), Kiphire (1) and Peren (1).

Meanwhile, the State also recorded 195 recoveries on May 27, which took the recovery tally from 14,929 to 15,124.
As per the update, Dimapur had 106 new recoveries, Kohima had 47, while Mokokchung had 17 recoveries, Zunheboto had 9, and Tuensang had 5. Wokha, Peren and Kiphire reported 3 recoveries each and Longleng had 2 new recoveries.

The total number of active cases in the State at present is 4,941, out of which 228 are currently admitted in the COVID hospital while 4338 are under home isolation, as per the COVID-19 bulletin issued by the State Health department.

After 11 new deaths were registered on Thursday, the State’s death toll also increased to 326. Dimapur registered 6 new deaths while 2 deaths were reported in Kohima. Mon, Tuensang and Wokha also reported 1 death each. 12 deaths have also been listed in the ‘not COVID related’ death category in the bulletin.
