48 samples test negative, 13 more awaited
Farming operations exempt from lockdown

The number of suspected COVID-19 cases in Nagaland to test negative stood at 48 as of 5:00 pm, April 7. The results of 12 other samples sent on April 6 were awaited, while 1 more sample was sent today taking the total of suspected cases reported from the state to 61.
Meanwhile, a total of 5069 persons have signed up through the ncovid-19 Nagaland App, stated the daily COVID-19 roundup released by Minister for Planning & Coordination NeibaKrobu through the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR).
Kronu, who is also a state spokesperson for the COVID-19 crisis, informed that 3590 persons have completed the“self declaring” processthrough the app and 1479 others were still tocomplete the process.
“I once again, appeal those who have entered the State after 6th March, 2020 to self register in the App with your full details and further if anyone develops cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, they can login and update themselves or call the helpline numbers,” Kronu reiterated.
He said that the citizens deserve praise for the cooperation rendered during the lockdown, which completed 14 days on April 7.
A sector glaringly ignored in the hubbub, farming got the government’s attention finally.Kronu said that farming operations will be exempt from the lockdown restrictions. “This being the sowing season, our farmers may hence as per the need, come out of their homes, go to the fields and carry out all the essential farming activities, while maintaining social distancing.”
While informing that the state Cabinet reviewed the preparedness of the Health Department, he said that Health officials were asked to further bring about improvements to cover all the gaps that may still exist.”
He further informed that the a team led by the Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare, visitedPhek and Wokha today to assess the two districts’ preparedness.
“I would also like to inform that the State Government is fast tracking the establishment of a BSL 3 lab at NHAK, Kohima, and a BSL 2 lab at CIHSR, Dimapur,” he added.
No law and order incident: Home Commissioner
In a separate press release, Abhijit Sinha, Home Commissioner and Principal Secretary updated on the law and order and facilitation of essential services. He stated that shops selling essentials were opened in all the districts.
“In Mokokchung, shops continued to be regulated and in Kiphire, shops open on alternate days. Shops for milk and medicine were also opened in all the districts of the State. No shortage of food grains, groceries, milk and medicines have been reported in any part of the State.”
He added that no restriction was imposed on movement of vehicles distributing essential commodities & service providers like electricity, telecommunication, fuel etc.
In Dimapur, permits were issued to transport essential commodities and retail grocery shops opened from 9-2:00pm, while the vegetable wholesale market opened from 3-8:00am. The Dimapur District Administration has established a community kitchen with the help of NGOs. In Wokha, 547 stranded migrant workers have been provided food grains.
While stating that there was no report of any law and order incident, he added that “remedial steps” were taken against people for violating lockdown regulation.
