Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): Nagaland reported 40 fresh COVID-19 cases from 1,012 samples, with a daily positivity rate of 3.95 percent. This is the first time the state has recorded a positivity rate lower than 5 percent after the second wave of the pandemic hit that state in April this year.
The new cases were reported from Dimapur (15), Mokokchung (14), Kohima (3), Peren (3), Mon (2), Wokha (2) and Phek (1). According to the health bulletin issued by the State Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the fresh cases were detected from 23 self test and random tests, 10 front line workers, 4 traced contacts and 3 returnees or travellers.
The COVID-19 death toll remained at 485 on Monday as no new fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours.
A total of 81 individuals who previously tested positive for the virus recovered from the infection on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,158.
As of July 5, the state had a cumulative total of 25,559 cases and 1,192 active cases out of which 1,042 cases were in home isolation and 80 were admitted in COVID Hospitals across the state, as per the IDSP bulletin.
