Kohima, September 23 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton visited markets in Kohima on Tuesday as part of the ongoing GST Bachat Utsav campaign, an initiative to highlight the benefits of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms across the country.
During his visit, Patton interacted with shopkeepers and traders, emphasising that the GST has simplified the tax system reduced the burden on small businesses, and ensured that citizens receive goods and services at fairer prices. These measures are helping both trade and the wider economy move forward with greater strength.
“The campaign is not only about reducing the tax burden on traders but also about ensuring that the benefits reach the citizens directly,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Shopkeepers at the market expressed their support for the initiative, with many reiterating the message of “Garv Se Kaho, Yah Swadeshi Hai” underscoring a commitment to local enterprise and a self-reliant India.
Patton also presented flowers and promotional items to the shopkeepers.
The nationwide campaign is being conducted under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda.
