In a wake of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU)’s appeal for the early sanction and disbursement of the second phase of the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Scheduled Tribe students for the academic year 2024–2025, Nagaland’s higher education & tourism minister Temjen Imna Along today said that the state government will disburse the same soon once the central share is release to the state.

“I am sure that the central share will be released to the state very soon. Once it is released to the state, we will make sure that within no time it will be disbursed to the remaining students who have not received their post-matric scholarship,” the minister told the reporters here today in his official residence.

Stating that the first phase of Post Matric Scholarship has already been released a few months ago, he said “I know our students are anxious and waiting for the second phase who has not received their post-matric scholarship till now.”

He said that the department is in pursuit to get the central share of the post-matric scholarship from the Government of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

He informed that the last correspondence from the Ministry was in September 15, where they had asked for the statement of expenditure and for the requirement of 2024-5 and the department has examined all those and have already complied with the statement of expenditure and has already sent it to the Ministry.

On demand of the ANCSU for setting up of separate Scholarship Nodal Cell, the Minister said that formalities and procedures are going for setting of the cell.

I am sure that very soon the Nodal Cell for the scholarship will be established under the higher education department and proper linkages will be done with the rest of the departments, he said.

Further, the Minister announced to make sure that it is pursued and done soon.
