Nagaland farmer wins national award

L Holuto Ayemi from Nagaland receiving the IARI Innovative Farmer Award at New Delhi. 

 

Zunheboto, March 4 (MExN): L Holuto Ayemi, a farmer from Tichipami village under Zunheboto district, Nagaland has been conferred the prestigious “Innovative Farmer Award” by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

 


Ayemi was conferred the IARI innovative Farmers Award during the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela held at ICAR, New Delhi from March 1 to 3 by Kailash Chaudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GOI in presence of Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR.

 


Ayemi was selected for the award for the innovative Cardamom Spike Cutter, designed and conceptualised by him. The low cost spike cutter is efficient for Cardamom growers. 

 


Earlier his innovation was recognized by KVK Zunheboto and proposed for IARI Innovative farmer award. “His innovation has led a way forward for Cardamom growers for easy harvesting and maximising their production” Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Sr Scientist and Head, KVK Zunheboto NU stated in a press release. 

 


KVK Zunheboto NU team has congratulated Ayemi for his contribution for the farming community.
