Kohima, December 12 (MExN): A state level meeting under the chairmanship of Nagaland Commissioner & Secretary for Industries & Commerce, Lithrongla G. Chishi at her office chamber on December 11 to discuss on logical preparation and work distribution among the Government Departments in regard to the UN Global Compact Network India (GCNI) to be held in Dimapur at Niathu Resort on December 20 and 21.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting was informed that Nagaland Chief Minister would be attending the inaugural programme where UN country Director is also expected to attend as well. The inaugural would be followed by a session with policy makers and a cultural presentation.
Day-2 would be a full-day session where about 30 resource persons are expected to come as speakers and experts from across the country including one or two international speakers as well.
The Commissioner & Secretary in her address to the officers said that the department should be prepared with a write-up, data, statistics about crops products etc. She also encouraged the departments to avail opportunity which is in the offing for any genuine projection and potential investment. She mentioned about few departments such as Tourism, Agriculture and Entrepreneurs of Handlooms & Handicrafts under Textile, Veterinary and Fisheries etc not to miss the chance for potential investment and added “in this event, people are coming wanting to do business in the North East, they are critical decision makers who helps create the network”.
Chishi lamented that there are limitations in government departments in data collection which could sometimes hamper further development of the department. However, referring to the Medicinal and Aromatic Research in Ruzaphema which is a 10 crore project which would be inaugurated in January 2019 she said that the state has its strength in its natural resources.
The Commissioner & Secretary said that all the Administrative Heads of Department (AHoDs) and Heads of Department (HoDs) should be there with their project officers in the summit.
Former Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Alemtemshi Jamir who also attended the meeting said that for betterment and further development of the state, medical college, better health care establishment and services such as Ayush can be made with potential investment in the state.
The meeting also discussed on the committees and officials assigned for the programme at Dimapur including TRAC Team and a control room which needs to be set up and functioning by 18th December. Accordingly, various departments have been distributed with works and assignments.
