A government bill on Nagaland Goods & Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2018 was introduced on the floor of the House today. The bill was moved by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who is also minister in-charge of finance.
The Goods & Services Tax (GST) has been implemented across the country with effect from July 1, 2017.
There are two components of the GST, namely the Central Goods & Services Tax (CGST) and the State Goods and Service Tax (SGST). The CGST (Amendment) Bill 2018 has already been passed by the Lok Sabha and notified in the Gazette of India. Similarly, the Goods & Service Tax (Amendment) Bill 2018 has to be passed by the state legislative assemblies.
“The Nagaland Goods & Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2018 will make the Nagaland Goods & Services Tax Act more comprehensive and trade friendly, stated Rio in statement of objects and reasons.
NLA Speaker Vikho-o Yhoshu said that consideration and passing of the bill will be taken up on September 20.
Rio laid All Nagaland Directorate and District Stenographers Service Rules, 2018 on the floor of the house including Annual Administrative Report 2017-18 of personnel & administrative reforms and chief electoral officer.
Y. Patton, deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of home laid Annual Administrative Report 2017-18 of home department while minister for health & family welfare S. Pangyu Phom laid Nagaland Pharmacist Service Rules 2018. Chotisuh Sazo, Yitachu, Mmhonlumo Kikon, KT Sukhalu, Toshi Wungtung and Er. Zale Neikha also presented respective assembly committee reports.
NLA Commissioner & Secretary N. Benjamin Newmai reported the assent of Nagaland’s Governor on Nagaland Appropriation (No.1) Bill, 2018, Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2018 and Nagaland Road Safety Authority Act, 2013 (First Amendment) Bill, 2018.
