Kohima, February 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (erstwhile SSA and RMSA 2010 & 2013 Batches) has served a seven-day ultimatum to the Directorate of School Education, Government of Nagaland demanding the inclusion of their salary component under the State Non-Plan Budget.
Comprising 2,293 members, the association stated that despite their formal mainstreaming into the State Education Cadre over three years ago, their salaries continue to be drawn from Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) funds instead of the appropriate State Account Head.
According to a press release from the association’s Media Cell, their services were officially absorbed into the State Education Cadre vide Order No. DSE/SSA-RMSA/COM/18-86/2021 dated September 2, 2022, with effect from April 21, 2022. This followed a Cabinet approval conveyed through Order No. CAB-2/2013 on April 21, 2022.
However, even after the lapse of more than three years, the teachers alleged that their salaries continue to be drawn under CSS funding rather than under the appropriate State Account Head applicable on a par with other regular State Cadre employees.
While they had previously submitted a detailed representation on May 9, 2025, followed by a reminder on July 31, 2025, “the government has been inconsistent with the decision in principle,” they added.
In the ultimatum addressed to the Principal Director, the association has urged the department to take immediate and time-bound action within seven days of receipt of the notice. They further notified that “if the matter remains unresolved within the stipulated period, they may be compelled to consider appropriate democratic and collective steps to seek amicable resolution.”
