Kohima, December 5 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Advisor S. Kiusumew have extended greetings to all the ranks and files of the Home Guards, Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force Organisation on its Raising Day on December 6.
“It is indeed a day to rejoice and acknowledge the organisation for their yeoman service during the time of disasters and natural calamities in terms of providing rescue and relief to the victims,” the Governor stated in his message.
He further noted that the organisation “even renders services in maintaining internal security and other related services,” he said, and expressed confidence that it would continue to keep up the spirit and always stay alert and attend to the call of duties whenever required.
“On this auspicious occasion, I extend my best wishes to the Nagaland Home Guards, Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Forces and the very best in their future endeavours,” Ganesan added.
In his greetings, CM Rio said that the organisation has been performing invaluable services for the nation, since its raising and in times of emergencies and has had been always the first responder to come to the rescue of people in distress, and render assistance as per the demand of the situation.
The recent act of rescuing 41 persons trapped in a collapsed Sylkara tunnel in Uttarakhand during the last week of November this year in which the force played a significant role is one shining example of their selfless service to the nation, he highlighted.
In normal times, the organisation also doubles up as police force to help in maintenance of law and order in the society, Rio said.
I extend my warm greetings to the organisation on the occasion of their raising day, and also convey my best wishes to the officers, rank and file of the organisation in their noble mission to help people in times of emergencies and disasters, he added.
MLA & Advisor Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence Relief & Rehabilitation, Kiusumew also greeted and felicitated the Director General and all ranks and files of the organisation.
