Kohima, January 9 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland has constituted a standing High Powered Committee Governing Body for the Hornbill Festival in the interest of public service.
The committee, tasked with overall policy, direction, inter-departmental coordination, and strategic oversight, will be chaired by the Chief Minister, stated a DIPR report.
The members include the Deputy Chief Ministers of Planning & NH and Home & BA, Ministers for Tourism & Higher Education and Horticulture & WRD, Advisor for Art & Culture, Industries & Commerce, and Advisor to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Secretary will serve as the Member Secretary. Other members comprise the Finance Commissioner, Development Commissioner, Commissioner & Secretary (Tourism), Secretaries of Art & Culture, Industries & Commerce, and Horticulture, along with the Chairman of TaFMA.
The committee’s role includes providing strategic vision, ensuring inter-departmental convergence, approving major strategic initiative, partnership and frameworks, monitoring progress against defined outcomes, allotment of site, rates for materials sold and events and making all policy decisions.
Additionally, the High Powered Committee will oversee CSR funds and sponsorships for the festival. It will also approve decisions to hold any promotional events for music and culture at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama during periods outside the main Hornbill Festival.
A Convenor and a Festival Director for the Hornbill Festival will be appointed from amongst the committee members.
