Nagaland Governor graces 8th Graduation Day of NEISSR

Chümoukedima, October 13 (MExN): North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima celebrated its 8th Graduation Day at Peace Centre with the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan as the chief guest on Friday. Nosazol Charles, State Information Commissioner, and Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and Chairman of NEISSR graced the occasion as the guest of honour and special guest respectively.

A total of 32 students from the batch of 2021-2023 graduated during this event. Several awards were presented to outstanding students including Best Student Award: John Kath, Excellent Academic Performance Award 2023: Zhovino Kichu, Best Researches Award 2023: Sushoka Assumi and Best Student in Field Practicum 2023: Imkongtula, a DIPR report stated.

A press release from the NEISSR desk stated that addressing the graduates, the Governor emphasised the significance of educational experiences and skills in achieving their goals and urged them to be responsible and compassionate, making a positive impact on the world. The Governor appreciated Peace Channel and NEISSR for its interfaith culture in promoting peace and the Diocese of Kohima for starting MSW College in Nagaland. 

Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima expressed that the establishment of the MSW College aimed to fulfill specific needs and hopes within Nagaland. The college offers specializations that are highly needed in the region. He stressed the pressing challenge of fostering and promoting peace in Nagaland, highlighting the unique Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies specialization offered by the college. “May your feet always lead to where your heart wants to go” Bishop encouraged the graduates to embrace challenges and become agents of positive change in society.

Nosazol Charles emphasised the importance of truth and honesty in both individual and societal life. He challenged the graduates to focus on self-improvement, honesty, truthfulness, and a positive attitude towards others to bring about quality changes and equality in society. “Do not describe lies as truth and truth as lies in your life as an individual person or even in a group, in a society or in the nation” he quoted. 

Dr Toli H. Kiba, Assistant Professor, NEISSR felicitated the graduates and special awards were presented to outstanding students. Rev CP Anto, Principal, NEISSR gave the welcome, invocation was pronounced by Rev Fr Antony Dukru Rozu, Parish Priest and Principal of St Joseph Hr Sec, Chümoukedima and vote of thanks by Rev Fr GL Khing, Vice Principal and Administrator of NEISSR.
