Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, joined the Sikh community in celebrating the festival of Vaisakhi at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dimapur, on April 14.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor extended his greetings and best wishes to the Sikh community in Nagaland and across the country. He highlighted the spiritual, cultural and historical significance of Vaisakhi, marking the harvest season and symbolizing prosperity, gratitude and new beginnings, stated a press release issued by PRO Lok Bhavan, Nagaland.
The Governor stated that Nagaland is known for its rich diversity and harmonious coexistence and festivals like Vaisakhi strengthen bonds of unity, mutual respect and brotherhood. He appreciated the valuable contributions of the Sikh community to the social and economic life of the State, particularly in Dimapur.
The Governor also recalled the historic formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699, noting that its enduring values of courage, equality, service and righteousness continue to inspire humanity. Emphasizing the teachings of the Sikh Gurus, he underlined the importance of selfless service, compassion, discipline and universal brotherhood. He remarked that the traditions of seva and langar exemplify inclusiveness and humanity, reinforcing the idea that service to mankind is service to God.
On the occasion, the Governor called upon all to reaffirm their commitment to peace, harmony and progress, drawing inspiration from the message of Vaisakhi. He prayed that the blessings of the Gurus bring peace, prosperity, happiness and good health to all and wished everyone a joyous Vaisakhi.
