Nagaland Govt reiterates on phasing out Work-Charged, Casual Employees

Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has recently reiterated a clause of an earlier DPAR’s office memorandum (OM) regarding the “phasing out all the Work-Charged and Casual Employees.”

Among others, OM dated March 17, 2015 provided that the post occupied by them (Work-Charged & Casual Employees) “on regularization shall automatically stand abolished as and when they vacate the post on retirement, resignation, death etc.”

A new Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms’ (DPAR) OM issued by State Chief Secretary J Alam on July 12 drew the attention of departments under the Nagaland Government.

Apart from abolition of post, the provision, reproduced in the new OM, informed that the strength of work-charged and casual employees will stand reduced equally with the regularization of employees.

“The strength of the work-charged and casual employees under various Departments shall stand reduced by equal number concurrently with the regularization of such employees,” it said. “No fresh appointments shall be made against these posts,” it added.

The new OM was issued in the pursuance of the State Cabinet decision dated June 25, 2021, it said.

“All Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments are requested to comply with the above direction of the Government,” it added.
