Kohima, April 30 (MExN): Members of the Voluntary Blood Donors Association Nagaland (VBDAN) called on Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav, who is also the Chief Patron of the association, at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on April 30.

The Governor commended the members for their noble and life-saving mission, and appreciated their sustained efforts in promoting voluntary blood donation across the state. He said such selfless service plays a vital role in strengthening the healthcare system and saving countless lives.

Highlighting that blood donation is among the most meaningful humanitarian acts, reflecting compassion, solidarity and social responsibility, Yadav encouraged the association to continue its awareness initiatives, particularly among the youth, to foster a culture of regular and voluntary blood donation in Nagaland.

During the interaction, VBDAN members outlined their ongoing initiatives, including organising voluntary blood donation drives, awareness campaigns, and building a network of committed donors across districts.

They also briefed the Governor on the blood donors mobile application, available on the Android platform, explaining that it enables quick access to registered donors, facilitates real-time coordination during emergencies and helps bridge the gap between blood banks and patients in need.

The Governor appreciated the use of technology in enhancing outreach and encouraged further innovation to make the system more efficient and accessible.

Notably, Yadav himself is an active blood donor and shared his personal commitment to the cause, underscoring the importance of leading by example to encourage wider participation in voluntary blood donation.
