Nagaland: Hope Academy Dimapur wins ‘Battle of the Bands’

The Inter-School Music Fest 2022 billed as “Battle of the Bands” under the aegis of G. Rio School Kohima took place on October 29 at the Kevilhouü Rio Auditorium, G. Rio School.

Nine schools from Dimapur and Kohima participated in the contest.

In the closely contested Battle of the Bands 2022, "Hope Band" of Hope Academy Dimapur bagged the first position and walked away with a citation and a cash award of Rs. 30,000.

“Myraid” of The Maple Tree School Dimapur bagged the second position, a citation and cash award of Rs. 15,000.

“The Gears II” of Model Higher Secondary School Kohima bagged the third position and was awarded with Rs. 10,000.

Individual prizes for the best vocalist, best drummer, best keyboardist, best lead guitarist were also given.

All the prizes were sponsored by music lovers and judges of the event.

The event was graced by Melekhoto Pucho, proprietor, Symphony Academy of Music and Symphony Café, Kohima as the guest of honour.

Pucho emphasized on developing one's skills and perfecting one's art.

The judges included; Khriekethozo (Gugu) Sekhose, Samuel Thapa and Moatemsu Walling.

The event started with an opening prayer by Pastor Aphre.

Vecilu, Music teacher G. Rio School enthralled the audience with her musical rendition titled “Never Enough.”

Special dance performance was presented by G. Rio students.

Renowned guitarist Gugu Sekhose and vocalist of the Fifth Note- Samuel Thapa entertained the crowd with their performance.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Kevino Savino, Dean, Students’ Affair, G. Rio School, Kohima.
