Nagaland host North East Chapter of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons conference

Principal Director, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, Dr Vikato Kinimi referred to pediatric surgeons as life savers and nurturers of many while calling to render best services to the people through their speciality. 

He was addressing the North East Chapter of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (NEIAPS) 17th Conference at Hotel Japfü, Kohima, Nagaland on November 30. 

Among the doctors who has different speciality, he said the line of pediatrics was special. And today many lead wonderful and normal lives for these doctors who have given them timely treatment when they were children. 

The pediatric surgeons had saved numerous numbers of children and nurtured them. Today, they are grown up and adults, Kinimi remarked. 

He said among the billion of population in the world, God has chosen the Pediatric Surgeons and added that it was the duty of these medical professionals to render best services to the people especially in pediatrics. 

He, meanwhile congratulated the NEIAPS family and the organization for successfully conducting a one day conference on various topics and discussions in Kohima. 

Dr Renchamo Kikon, Chairperson, NEIAPS cum Organizing Chairman, NEIAPSCON, 2022 delivered the welcome address. 

Earlier, Dr Toijam Soni Lyngdoh, NEIAPS Secretary, in his report lauded the association for the shared mutual passion for treating sick newborn and little children and this forum has created a platform for them to exchange ideas and learn from one another 

He informed that NEIAPS or North East Chapter was recognised as a full-fledged chapter in 2008 and currently had 28 Pediatric Surgeons having presence in every state except Tripura- 11 in Assam, Arunachal-3, Meghalaya-4, Mizoram-2, Manipur-3, Nagaland-4, and Sikkim-1. The secretary said North East Chapter of IAPS is the only chapter where all members are full time members. 

In this regard, he added that there was much to do over the coming years, “particular as we even get closer to the milestone of having pediatrics surgeons in every health institutions of the Northeast and to make our chapter more vibrant.”
