Nagaland: ICAR-NRC conducts discourse on agro-ecological and livestock practices

Medziphema, April 28 (MExN): ICAR-NRC on Mithun organized ‘discourse on agro-ecological and livestock practices’ under ‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ campaign on April 28. 

This campaign is a part of Government’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme. The main objective of the programme is to educate the rural farmers to integrate agriculture and livestock farming, stated a press release. 

Dr Meraj Haider Khan, Director, emphasized on how to establish small livestock enterprises and integrate them with agriculture. He explained in detail to utilize the opportunities to establish markets and agri-start ups that exist in Nagaland state. He urged to take up market linkage activities that facilitate trade relationships between the target population or “clients” small producers, local firms and cooperatives and the external market. 

Dr Nazrul Haque, Principal Scientist presented on preservation of fodders and Dr L Sunitibala Devi presented on mithun farming. 

Quality protein maize and fodder maize seeds were distributed to all the 14 farmers who attended the programme.
