First polytechnic in Nagaland to get NBA accreditation
Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): National Board of Accreditation (NBA), being the prerequisite for up gradation, expansion, enhancement of enrolment etc for all technical institutions approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Khelhoshe Polytechnic, Atoizu, (KPA) under the Department of Technical Education, Nagaland had achieved its feat to qualify for upgradation from diploma to degree engineering programme.
The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Nagaland through a press release extended its gratitude to KPA Principal, staff and faculties, students and stakeholders for their relentless effort and making the Institute to obtain accreditation in Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering for a period of three academic years w.e.f 2021 to 2024.
“The accreditation could be made possible because of the constant moral and physical support received from Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along and Adviser to CM, Technical Education & Election, Medo Yhokha. Under their visionary leadership, the Institute had worked with zeal and determination pulling all available resources,” it stated.
DoTE also expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio for granting additional fund for facelift of KPA and Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) inorder to go for NBA. GPK is also expected to follow suit and work for obtaining NBA accreditation, it stated while adding, “the milestone achievement will pave the way for further growth of Technical Education in the State.” It also recalled the tremendous contribution made by the coordinator of NBA, Late Er Vizekhol Rhutso, Principal-In-charge, Government Polytechnic, Aboi, Mon.
Meanwhile, Khelhoshe Polytechnic Teachers Association (KPTA) in a separate press release said, “KPA is the first polytechnic in Nagaland to get NBA accreditation and also one among few colleges in the North Eastern states to achieve this accreditation.”
KPTA President, Pavito V Yepthomi and General Secretary, Rentsamo Tsopoe stated that the NBA expert team visited KPA from April 16 to 18, 2021 and conducted on-site evaluation of the programme i.e. details on academic, administrative, infrastructure and training & placement records for the past three academic years. “Upon successful evaluation, KPA has been granted NBA accreditation for three years as per a letter received from the NBA office yesterday (June 29),” it stated.
The association said that this is an important achievement for the Technical Education Department and particularly for KPA as the institute is in the process for upgrading to Degree College. “On achieving this important milestone, the Association would like to highlight that the aid/grant from the State, as well as from Centre through which the institute was able to meet the demands/criteria for accreditation. This was possible due to the vigorous efforts and support received across all ranks and files in the department, the Advisor Technical Education, Minister Higher Education & Tribal Affairs,” it stated.
Further, KPTA also congratulated the Principal and team of KPA for the tireless effort; the local NGOs for the cooperation and constant support throughout the accreditation process, and “foremost, the stakeholders of KPA are indebted to our Almighty God for this achievement.”
