KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): The Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) Portal of the Labour Department was launched on Tuesday at the Office of the Labour Commissioner in Kohima, marking a significant step towards digital governance and compliance reduction in Nagaland.
Commissioner and Secretary of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Sotsula (IAS), formally unveiled the portal and described it as a milestone reform aimed at easing procedural burdens for citizens and entrepreneurs. She said businesses in the State have long grappled with excessive paperwork and multiple physical processes to meet statutory requirements.
The portal enables end-to-end online processing for services under the Nagaland Shops & Establishments Act, 1986, and, on an interim basis, under the Factories Act, 1948. Users can now submit applications, upload required documents, make digital payments and receive certificates online.
Terming the initiative as more than a routine administrative upgrade, Sotsula said the shift represents a major step toward compliance simplification, transparency and efficient delivery of services. She added that eliminating physical submissions and reducing manual interventions would help build accessible and citizen-friendly governance.
The department will initially implement the system in Peren, Phek, Longleng and Kiphire during a three-month pilot phase before rolling it out statewide. She urged employers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders to support the transition and make full use of the platform.
Sotsula said the move aligns with the government’s broader vision of fostering a business-friendly and digitally empowered ecosystem that encourages growth, innovation and investment in Nagaland.
