North East Games 2024: Nagaland lead medal tally early on Day-I

Chümoukedima, March 19 (MExN): As competitions for various disciplines of the ongoing 3rd North East Games 2024 commenced on March 19, host Nagaland holds an early lead in the medal tally with a total of 17 medals.

According to an update by the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), the medals comprised of 8 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze. The status was as of 4:30PM on March 19.
Manipur was placed second with 16 medals (6 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze).

With bigger totals but lesser gold, Assam was in third position with 18 medals (4 gold,9 silver, and 5 bronze)

Competition for a myriad of sports, including football, volleyball, archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, pencak silat, sepak takraw, table tennis, wushu, and lawn tennis, began on Tuesday in venues across Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts.

Concurrently, athletics events kicked off at the Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium in Kohima.

Mizroam and Sikkim were yet to open their account on Day-I as per the NOA update.
