One Man, One Vote
Additional Secretary (BA) & ARO, Nagaland Parliamentary election 2014, L. Imsong, has directed the DCs/ADCs and DEOs of various districts of Nagaland, to notify all the electors about their right to vote as provided under Section 62 of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951:
1.    No person who is not, and except as expressly provided by this Act, every person who is, for the time being entered in the electoral roll of any constituency shall be entitled to vote in that constituency.
2.    No person shall vote at an election in any constituency if he is subject to any of the disqualifications referred to in Section 16 of the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1950 (43 of 1950).
3.    No person shall vote at a general election in more than one constituency of the same class, and if a person votes in more than one such constituency, his votes in all such constituencies shall be void. 
4.    No person shall at any election vote in the same constituency more than once, notwithstanding that his name may have been registered in the electoral roll for that constituency more than once, and if he does so vote, all his votes in that constituency shall be void.
5.    No person shall vote at any election if he is confined in a prison, whether under a sentence of imprisonment or transportation or otherwise, or is in the lawful custody of the police: Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall apply to a person subjected to preventive detention under any law for the time being in force.
6.    Nothing contained in sub-section (3) and (4) shall apply to a person who has been authorised to vote as proxy for an elector under this Act in so far as he votes as a proxy for such elector. Example Service voter who have opted for proxy voting and classified as 'Classified Service Voters'.

DC Peren informs on EDC
DC & District Election Officer Peren, Peter Lichamo has informed all who have applied for EDC (Election duty certificate) under Peren district that EDCs will be issued during the third phase of training on April 7 at town hall, Peren. All concerned have been requested to produce their appointment order and appropriate photo ID card during collection. Police personnel have been informed to collect their EDCs from the Nodal Officer for Police, Addl. SP Peren.

Final training for polling personnel of Pughoboto
ADC and Assistant Returning Officer Pughoboto has reminded that the 3rd phase and final training for polling personnel will be held on April 7 at 10:30 am onwards at the ADC Office, Pughoboto. All the polling personnel including fourth grade staff have been directed to reach the said venue on time. He also informed the entire requisitioned vehicle under 13-Pughoboto Assembly Constituency to submit their vehicles on April 7 at 10:00 am at Pughoboto public ground, failing which, stern action shall be taken as per the Representation of the People’s Act 1951. 

Mon district gears up for election
The final phase of training for all polling personnel of Mon district was held on April 4. DC Angau I. Thou emphasized on ‘One Man One Vote’ and ending proxy voting. She said polling personnel have every right to deny casting of proxy voting and directed them to strictly implement one man one vote. As part of the SVEEP awareness campaign, the Department of Information & Public Relations led by DPRO, Mon will also be screening short documentaries film on “My Vote is Precious & My Vote makes my Future” at Goching, Chi, Leangha and Totok village. 

Final phase of training at Zunheboto
The 3rd and final phase of training for polling officials of Zunheboto was held at District Cultural hall, Zunheboto on April 4 and 5. On April 4, the training was held for Presiding officers and 1st polling officers and on April 5, for 2nd Polling and 3rd polling officers.
