Nagaland mourns passing of Khotuoü Liezietsu

Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Ministers TR Zeliang and Y Patton, along with several organisations and political leaders, on May 24 mourned the demise of Khotuoü Liezietsu, wife of former Nagaland chief minister and former NPF president Shürhozelie Liezietsu.

Khotuoü Liezietsu passed away peacefully at Apollo International Hospital in Guwahati earlier in the day.

In a condolence message, Rio described her as a prayerful woman who kept her family united through faith and love. He said she was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother who stood firmly beside her husband throughout his political journey and would be remembered for her warmth, kindness and compassionate nature.

Patton, expressing grief on behalf of himself and his family, conveyed condolences to Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and the bereaved family members. He said memories of her kindness, warmth and support for people around her would remain in the hearts of many and prayed for strength and comfort for the grieving family.

Zeliang described her demise as a great loss to society and remembered her as a compassionate and prayerful woman who touched many lives through her kindness and strong faith.

The Western Chakhesang Hoho said she would be remembered for her grace, strength, compassion and the many lives she touched through her kindness.

The Ura Academy stated that she was not only a devoted life partner to Shürhozelie but also a valued member of the academy’s advisory board whose humility, wisdom and dedication would always be remembered.

The NPF Central Women Wing described her as a virtuous woman, honourable wife and sacrificial mother who remained the quiet strength behind Shürhozelie’s leadership.

Former Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker Thenucho Tunyi said she was a woman of extraordinary grace and quiet strength whose kindness and hospitality created a sense of belonging for many people.

NPF secretary general and MLA Achumbemo Kikon described her as a woman of grace, humility and devotion who touched many lives through prayer, sacrifice and compassion.

The Central NPF Minority Wing also mourned her demise and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
