Kohima, March 17 (MExN): Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Nagaland, S Supongmeren Jamir, on March 17 urged cadets to embrace leadership rooted in responsibility, humility and service while addressing the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Festival and Alumni Meet–Nagaland at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma.
Addressing the occasion as the chief guest, he highlighed the role of the NCC in shaping youth and stated that the organisation instils discipline, leadership and a strong sense of responsibility, going beyond drills and uniforms to nurture character, teamwork and commitment.
He emphasised that unity and discipline are essential in building responsible citizens in a diverse country.
Encouraging cadets to apply the values learned through NCC training in all aspects of life, he said qualities such as courage, respect and dedication would help them succeed in any field. He urged young people to contribute positively to society and nation-building.
Referring to the alumni meet, Jamir noted that former cadets exemplify how NCC training shapes individuals into capable professionals and leaders, serving as inspiration for the younger generation. He also acknowledged the contributions of officers, instructors and teachers in mentoring cadets.
AS per the State DIPR, the festival, featured activities including live podcast sessions with L Lanuwabang, Director, NIELIT, and Lichan Humtsoe, Founder and CEO of Eté Coffee.
Cultural performances, games and competitions were also part of the event.
