Nagaland: NCC cadets marvel at the might of Indian army

Weapon and Pipe Band display at Rangapahar Military Station in Dimapur

As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, the Indian army organized a military equipment and Pipe Band display for National Cadet Corps students of various schools and colleges in Dimapur and also for families at Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur on August 28. The display was organized by Spear Corps and was attended by approximately 200 NCC cadets.

The Swarnim Vijay Varsh is a commemoration of 50 years of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war thereby liberating Bangladesh.

The event encompassed activities like weapon display, equipment display and performance by Army pipe band along with an interactive session with the visitors wherein they were given an exposure on capabilities of Indian army. Visiting NCC cadets also interacted with officers and all other ranks about avenues for joining army. 

Interacting with media persons, NCC Cadet Yekovi Swu expressed marvel at the might of Indian Army and said he aimed to serve the Indian Army. Another NCC cadet, Venolu Lohe expressed delight to witness the equipments of the Indian armed force and added she wanted to join the Indian army in the future.

The martial tunes played by the Military band were a major attraction for the visitors instilling fervour for the nation in the young minds. The inquisitiveness and the eagerness in the young populace about the Indian Army could be gauged by the high spirits, enthusiasm and curiosity that were seen amongst the youth while participating in the event.
