Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has demanded that the Urban Development Department complete the construction of the RCC T-Beam Bridge over the Dhansiri River near Urban Haat, Dimapur, by December 2020.

In a press release on September 2, the NCD President and General Secretary expressed resentment at the length of time that has passed since the work order was issued and the current stage of construction of the bridge.

It said that the work order was issued to M/S Aien Meren Enterprises by the Urban Development Department on February 2010 on condition that the work should be completed within 24 months from the issue of work order, failing which penalty would be charged as per rules of contract agreement.

However, even after 10 years, the project remains incomplete, causing immense hardship to commuters, it said.

As such, the NCD questioned the Urban Development Department, as to why, it has taken so long to construct the bridge which is only a few meters long.

It demanded that the concerned authority (Urban Development Department) complete the Dhansari Bridge by December 2020, failing which “the NCD will be compelled to take its own course of action.”
