Five shops gutted in Longleng

Longleng, February 1 (MExN): Five shops were reportedly gutted down by fire that broke out around 7:30 pm at Shayung ward, Longleng district on January 31. As per DIPR report, the shops included a vehicle parts shop, tailor, computer and pan shop. No human casualty was reported. The cause of the fire was suspected to be due to electric short circuit. With the timely intervention of fire and emergency service, district administration,  police and general public, the fire was doused off without spreading further, added the report. As reported by EAC headquarters Robi Sangtam, properties worth around 40 to 50 lakh were consumed by the inferno.

 

ZCCI installs new bearers

Zunheboto, February 1 (MExN): The Zunheboto Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) office bearers for the tenure 2020 were installed on January 31 at a programme held at its office. The new team will be led by Kikheto Muru as President, Katovi Awomi as Vice President, Hutokali K Yeptho as General Secretary, Holoka T Sumi as Media Affairs along with 13 other members. Board of Advisors includes three members and one legal Advisor. As per a press release from ZCCI, Media Affairs, the newly elected President assured that the team will give their best to bring effective changes for the business community and for the citizens of Zunheboto in general.

 

AGOK mourns demise of Z Obed

Kohima, February 1 (MExN): The Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (AGOK) has expressed sadness over the demise of Z Obed, retired Chief Secretary and former Minister of Nagaland, who passed away on January 30 in Dimapur after a brief illness. “In his death the Nagas in general and the Angami community in particular have lost a tall leader, a man whose name was synonymous with that of a true leader,” read a condolence message from its President Dr Kedozeto Punyü and General Secretary Megolhou Dolie. “Born on June 14, 1931 in Kohima village, Obed possessed both physical and intellectual attributes, as he was a keen sportsperson and joined the elite ranks of the Indian Frontier Administrative Service. He was later inducted into the Indian Administrative Service and served as Chief Secretary of the state from 1980-1982, and from 1987-1989.” The AGOK offered its sympathy to his wife, Naro Obed and family members and prayed that “Almighty God grant them solace and strength to bear the loss.”
