Dept of Social Welfare to celebrate IWD

Kohima, March 5 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and the State Resource Centre for Women-Nagaland will be organizing a programme in commemoration of the International Women's Day (IWD) on March 9, 11:00 am at Chümoukedima Town Hall, with the theme, "I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights." The programme will also include an awareness session on schemes related to women and children under the Department of Social Welfare.

 

Integrated teachers training on NISHTHA

Kohima, March 5 (MExN): The third phase of the integrated mass teachers training on National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) under District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha Kohima will be held from March 10 to 14, 9:00 am onwards at Dr Neilhouzhü Kire Government Higher Secondary School, Seikhazou (D.Khel Kohima Village) Kohima. Shortlisted teachers failing to attend training will invite disciplinary action of ‘No work, no pay’ from the concerned department. Teachers have also been directed to create personal email IDs and participate in the training with smart phones.

 

Hit and run case

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): One person succumbed to injury in a suspected hit and run case by an unidentified vehicle at Purana Bazar, Dimapur on March 4. The dead body was shifted to District Civil Hospital morgue for post mortem examination and identification, informed a press release from PRO Dimapur. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact Officer-in-Charge, East Police Station, Dimapur.

 

LSU new team formed

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): The new team of office bearers of the Lotha Students' Union (LSU) for the tenure 2020-2023 was elected on February 20. As per a press release from LSU, the new team is led by Ashanthung Humtsoe as President, Pithungo Shitio as General Secretary and Motsuthung Tsopoe as Speaker. Change of guard was held on March 3 at LSU office, it said.

 

PCF offers condolence

Phek, March 5 (MExN): The Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF) has mourned the demise of Sashezo (Ezo) Venuh, former Chairman, Phek Village Council and a bonafide leader of the forum who passed away on February 27 after a prolonged illness at CCU Naga Hospital. The forum in a press release issued by its President Vekhopu Venuh and General Secretary Veshe Chizo described Ezo as the founding member of the PCF, a humble and dedicated leader who relentlessly sacrificed for the upliftment of the forum in particular and the Phekmi community in general. “His commitment and dedicatory service towards the Phekmi community will ever be cherished.” The PCF conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the “Almighty God grant eternal peace to the departed soul.”
