NNC/FGN to celebrate Nagaland Republic Day
Kohima, March 17 (MExN): NNC/FGN will be celebrating the 59th Nagaland Republic Day on March 22, 2014 at 10:00 am at Chedema Peace Camp. FGN assistant secretary Thihü Khamo has invited all nationalists to participate in the occasion.
UNTA cautions against ‘unscrupulous act’
Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): United Naga Tribes Association (UNTA), an association of all Nagas tribes inhabiting in and around the border areas of Nagaland has cautioned “the unscrupulous act of any unorganized group of people for taking the laws in their hand for the sole purpose of grabbing the lands of those registered and recognized groups or members within the adjoining areas of Dimapur.”
A press statement from UNTA Chairman Chubatangit Jamir and Secretary Hukavi Yepthomi declared that henceforth “UNTA shall not tolerate and entertain any self-centered groups or individuals that would hamper the common interest of the Nagas in its objective for peaceful co-existence within and beyond the traditional jurisdiction of the Naga people.”
United Naga Tribes Association has therefore appealed to the district administration of Dimapur in particular and the Government of Nagaland to sincerely and carefully maintain complete neutrality in its policing matters.
It further requested all concerned peace loving and sensible Nagas to co-ordinate in jointly initiating the common interest of the Nagas.
Chetheba Town Adhoc Committee condemns
Phek, March 17 (MExN): Chetheba Town Adhoc Committee has described “the attempted murder of Veseto Ringa by Vekhota, a habitual defector on March 12, 2014 evening at Phek without any reason or rhyme and after which Vekhota is said to have committed suicide as learnt from the authorities” as abhorrent, detestable and condemnable.
In a press release, vice chairman of the Committee, Sulupoyi Swiho stated that Veseto Ringa is a citizen of Chetheba town, currently residing at Phek Town and is serving as a bus conductor in Nagaland State Transport Department.
While praying for his speedy recovery at Naga Hospital, Kohima, the Committee acknowledged all the citizens of Phek Town and different organisations who had shown their solidarity towards him and organised a rally. It asserted its support to the resolutions arrived at during the rally and requested the authorities concerned to compensate the victim at the earliest.
