NTC condemns killing in Nagaland-Assam border
Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has strongly condemned the “brutal killing” of Supongtemjen Imchen on April 30 in the Nagaland-Assam border area near Indisen Village. Accusing the Assam police of the killing, NTC in a press statement said, “Assam Police always treats the Nagas as foreign to them, and all their actions towards the Nagas are high handedness and without any sense, which cannot be tolerated any longer. It is high time now the concerned authorities initiate measures for protection of its citizens living in their rightful land.” The NTC further expressed its sadness at the unfortunate killing and conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to God to grant them courage to withstand in this time of grief and sorrow. The statement was issued by NTC acting president Lendinoktang Ao and its general secretary Nribemo Ngullie. 

Boy falls off Dhansiri Bridge and dies
Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Dimapur police investigating the case of the death of a minor boy, whose lifeless body was found on the bank of Dhansiri River, below old Dhansiri Bridge on April 30, has established that the victim met with an unfortunate accident leading to his death. Informing this in a press release, Additional Superintendent of Police/ PRO, Dimapur informed that the victim identified as Tsalise Sangtam (14), S/o Yotingchum Sangtam of Kiphire village, and a resident of Full Nagarjan, Dimapur met with the unfortunate and fatal accident when he was returning from Purana Bazar after collecting re-filled LPG cylinder in a cycle. On reaching the bridge, according to eyewitness account, the release said, the victim lost control of the cycle he was riding and fell from the bridge seriously sustaining injury on his head from the boulders in the riverbank. The victim was rushed to District Hospital Dimapur where he succumbed to his injuries, the note informed, adding, the body was handed over to relatives after observing all legal formalities. 

Director of Sainik Welfare informs
Kohima, May 4 (MExN): Director of Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Nagaland has asked the candidates from Nagaland willing to appear for the Army recruitment rally at Leimakhong from May 15 - 25 to visit the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, above Alder College HS Road Kohima. The director informed that guidance and free coaching would be conducted from May 5-7 at the Directorate. 

Free career & admission counseling in Kohima
Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): India Northeast Tribal Community Welfare Society (INTCWS), Notun Basti, Dimapur, under the aegis of its education wing Libra Consultancy is organizing its annual free career guidance and admission counseling at the office of the Angami Students’ Union, Kohima, near All India Radio on May 7 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for different courses like medical, nursing, engineering, B.Sc agriculture, forestry, PG, degree, LLB, Class 11 etc. A press release from INTCWS chairman, Atsei Sekhose informed that it will also provide counseling for failed and drop-out students in relevant courses/ trainings etc. The free counseling will facilitate students to select the top recognized universities/ colleges across India and avail admissions at college rates and also help them gather information about their career options depending on their interest, aptitudes, and skills, it added. The counseling is conducted annually and many students have benefited through it, stated the note. GPRN/NSCN MIP clarifies
Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): Apropos Assam Rifles’ press release on apprehension of Angami region’s chairman of the GPRN/NSCN on April 29, the MIP Kilonser of the faction has clarified that the “Angami region RAO was intercepted near 7th Mile Dimapur with arms and implicated with wrong story by 29 Assam Rifles.” The GPRN/NSCN MIP Kilonser N. Metha stated that the “Angami region RAO being a peace loving leader himself was on his way to the designated camp to deposit region’s arms on the day of his arrest by 29 Assam Rifles.” The MIP Kilonser mentioned that the actual number of “government arms” seized from the RAO’s possession was 4 “but in order to get noticed and flatter themselves the 29 Assam Rifles increased the numbers of seized arms to 5.” The MIP Kilonser further asked “the Indian state agency to release the seized arms held captive with them as it belonged to the government.”
 
SKK joint meeting on May 8
Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The All Sumi Students' Union (SKK) has scheduled a joint meeting of Platinum Jubilee Planning Board, Committee on Local Arrangement, and its executives on May 8 at SKK office building, Zunheboto at 11:00 am. Therefore, all the members concerned have been notified to attend the meeting positively.
