CCCPO reiterates ‘One Government- One Tax’

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Circle Chakhroma Public Organisation (CCCPO) which comprises of 17 villages under Chümoukedima reiterated its ‘One Government- One Tax’ stance in areas under its jurisdiction which was adopted in October 2013. In a press release on Wednesday, it said that during its executive meeting on August 24, the organisation noted that various national groups have been demanding various taxes from villages and from business establishments under its jurisdiction and has been causing undue harassment to the village leaders. As such, it asked Naga political groups not to indulge in ‘demanding activities’ but instead, focus on uniting with each other for an amicable political solution.

Dimapur: Unidentified pedestrian killed in hit and run

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Dimapur police has informed that an unidentified male pedestrian age around 20 to 25 years succumbed to injuries sustained during a hit and run incident that took place on August 23. According to a press note from the Dimapur Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) & PRO, the incident took place at around 9:40 pm near Deluxe Point Dimapur when the pedestrian was hit by an unknown vehicle. “As a result, the said pedestrian sustained head injury and was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur for medical treatment. However, deceased succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical treatment,” the PRO informed. The body of the deceased who was wearing half pant and black coloured vest is kept at District Hospital Morgue for post mortem examination and identification. In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is going on, it added.

Tizit: 3 apprehended with illegal liquor 

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): Security Forces in an operation apprehended three individuals with illegal liquor at Tizit under Mon district on August 24. “Based on a specific input, security forces apprehended three individuals and recovered illegal liquor worth approximately Rs 70,000 being transported to Nagaland at Tizit, Mon District,” a press release from HQ IGAR (N) informed on Wednesday. The apprehended individuals along with recovered liquor have been handed over to Mon Police Station, Mon district for further investigation, it said. The student union of Tizit and locals appreciated the efforts of the Security Forces in preventing the smuggling of liquor into Nagaland. The recovery of contraband is a blow to the illegal movement of liquor from neighbouring states to Nagaland, the release stated.

Classic Club Kohima mourns

Kohima, August 25 (MExN): The Classic Club, Kohima mourned the demise of Late Rükhietuolie (Akhie) Liezietsu, member of the Club who passed away on August 24. “It is unbelievable that Lt. Akhie, a friend to all his colleagues, warm and supportive in all his dealings is no more with us.  Late Akhie Liezietsu was a person who stood tall amongst his equals.  His strength lies in his modesty and humility with which he had endeared himself to all his colleagues. A pillar of encouragement for many, especially for the Classic family,” the Club stated in a condolence message. In his death, the Classic Club has lost a very fine member, which will always be recalled with regret and sadness. May his achievements continue to spread the sweet fragrances rekindling our hearts to remember and cherish his memory, it added.
