62nd Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day

Kohima, August 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will commemorate the 62nd Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day on September 6 at 10:00 AM at Chedema Peace Camp. Informing this, Capt. (Retd.) Yirci Lungleng, Rali Wali Kilonser, Federal Government of Nagaland extended invitation to all the peace-loving people to join the programme.

 

BJP Nagaland welcomes Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland welcomed Ajay Kumar Bhalla, IAS (Retd.), on assuming charge as the 22nd Governor of Nagaland on August 25. Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has had a distinguished career in public service. He served as Union Home Secretary from 2019 to 2024 and has previously held key positions including Secretary, Ministry of Power; Director General of Foreign Trade; and senior roles in the Ministries of Commerce, Coal, and Shipping. His tenure in these positions was noted for reforms, efficiency, and initiatives aimed at nation-building. The Nagaland BJP said that with his vast administrative experience, vision, and commitment to public service, Governor Bhalla is expected to provide valuable guidance to the State Assembly as he begins his responsibilities in Nagaland. The party expressed confidence that his tenure would contribute to strengthening good governance, promoting development, and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the State.

DPC general meeting on Sept 1

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) will hold its General Meeting on September 1 at 10:30 AM at E-Space, opposite Shamrock Hospital, Dimapur. The meeting will discuss key agendas, including the election of office bearers for the 2025-2027 tenure, membership matters, and the presentation of the Audit Report for 2022-2025. Members are requested to submit any additional agendas for discussion. The DPC Silver Jubilee souvenir will be distributed following the meeting. All members are urged to attend the meeting without fail.


NSCN/GPRN-R (Akato) mourns demise of Dr Yetoyi Achumi

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN- R (Akato) has condoled the demise of Dr Yetoyi Achumi, father of Kakiho Achumi, Village Chief (Head GB) of Hekheshe and Member of the Collective Leadership of the NSCN/GPRN, who passed away on August 26. Dr Yetoyi was the founder of Hekheshe village and had served as president of the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH). In a condolence message issued by its MIP, the group described him as an ardent and selfless social worker who contributed immensely to society and left behind a legacy for others to cherish. It conveyed prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul and for solace to the bereaved family.
