Car & Gallery passes for NLA session available from Feb 27

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): In preparation for the Sixth Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, scheduled from March 3-8, car passes and official gallery passes will be issued from February 27 to March 8 during regular office hours (10 AM to 4 PM). A notification from Khruohituonuo Rio, Secretary-In-Charge, stated that all Ministers, Advisors, and AHODs can collect their car passes and gallery passes from the Special Secretary (Home), Civil Secretariat, Kohima. MLAs, PS/PA to Members are to collect car passes from the Reception Counter, Gate No. H, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat. HODs, IPR, and media personnel can collect their car passes from the Reception Counter, Gate No. 1, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

DC Kiphire advisory on fire safety

KIPHIRE, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, has issued a fire safety advisory in light of the ongoing dry and windy season.  The notification urged the public to take precautions when engaging in fire-related activities to prevent potential fire disasters. The advisory also requested the concerned leaders, town residents, and village councils to refrain from such activities until further notice.

NNC/FGN refutes claims over member defections, deletions

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): The NNC/FGN has refuted recent claims appearing in the media regarding the deletion of members from various positions and allegations of defections to other political groups and has termed it as erroneous and misleading. A press release issued by the MIP, NNC/FGN clarified that individuals named in the report, including Tingloi (Ating), Wanto, Penjei, Hono, Methlong, Chingong, Pangpu, Yenwang, Thungchamo, Lichio Kikon, Roland N Tsopoe, Zuchamo Patton, and Abemo Jami, remain actively involved with the Zhopra Vero-led NNC/FGN.  The group asserted that these individuals are still active under the legitimate NNC/FGN since Brigadier (Retd) S. Singnya’s impeachment as Kedahge on October 21, 2024.

Doyang Folk Festival from Feb 26-28

WOKHA, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): The Doyang Folk Festival, organized by Team Metamorphosis in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, will take place from February 26 to 28 at the Lanchuju eru Doyang Dam site under NEPCO DHEP.
The event aims to promote eco-tourism by showcasing the region’s indigenous culture and practices. According to Team Metamorphosis, the festival is part of an effort to highlight the area’s lesser-known resources, with the goal of creating an annual event that draws attention to the cultural heritage of the region.
Activities at the festival will include a variety of indigenous crafts and competitions, such as wood crafting, bamboo weaving, cotton extraction, and thread spinning. Other events will feature spear target practice, stilt bamboo walks, cultural war dances, folk songs, and storytelling. There will also be competitions for identifying indigenous objects in the local language.
A total cash prize of Rs 2, 74,000 will be awarded to the winners of the various competitions.
The festival is open to the public, with the organizers encouraging attendees to participate and learn about the region’s cultural traditions.
