Varun Ahluwalia takes charge as AG
Kohima, January 5 (MExN): Varun Ahluwalia (IA&AS) has assumed charge as the Accountant General (Audit & Entitlements) of Nagaland here. In an update, the office of the Accountant General said Ahluwalia took over the post on January 1 (forenoon) in pursuance of an order from the Headquarters' Office. The order, numbered 1772-GE. 1/1-2025, was dated December 29, 2025.

DC Mon notifies public 
Mon, January 5 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak NCS, on Monday has informed the general public of Mon town, that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters Mon from January 1 to 15 from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM. The DC, through a press release, informed the public not to panic during the period as loud sound of firing and explosion may be heard in and around Mon Town and adjoining areas. Furthermore, it has advised the residents of the area to avoid movement in the vicinity of the range/camp during the above mentioned period, to ensure the safety of children and livestock.

Unidentified body recovered in Dimapur

Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): Dimapur Police on January 3 recovered a body of an unidentified male found lying near the auto parking area at Railway station, Dimapur.

A police update on Monday stated that a written memo was received from Station Manager of NF Railway Dimapur that a male aged around 50 yrs. (approx.) was found lying near auto parking area at Railway station. 

On receiving the information, it stated that the duty party rushed to the place of occurrence and found one non-local male lying dead near auto parking divider. 

It informed that an inquest was conducted over the dead body. On examining with the presence of witnesses, it informed that the deceased was a vagrant or a homeless individual. 

At the same time, it stated that the dead body has been shifted to District Hospital Dimapur Morgue for PM examination/identification on completion of all legal formalities. 

Likewise, it informed that the deceased was of dark complexion with a black mole on the stomach, while wearing white jacket, white long shirt, black long pant and no foot wear.
