CHS informs on vaccination 

Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Hindu Society (CHS) today informed its members that if anyone needs assistance to avail the COVID-19 vaccines made available at the designated centres for 18-44 years age group, they can contact the following CHS: Piya Chakraborty- 8787541729; Sumit Paul -7005660499; Ranjan Das – 7005236659. Meanwhile, the CHS also urged everyone “to come forward with positive mind and get vaccinated to protect yourself, family and from spreading the disease.” In a press release, CHS Working President Pintu M Ghosh and General Secretary, Prakash Chetri informed its members that “the vaccines are safe and getting vaccinated will help protect against developing severe COVID-19 disease and dying from COVID-19, as the safety of vaccine is approved by World Health Organisation (WHO).” 

MTC restricts dumping on roads/drainages

Mon, May 24 (MExN): With regard to the excavated earth, construction materials/spoils etc being dumped over public roads or over the side drains by several construction sites within Mon town, resulting in clogging of drainage system and narrowing of the existing road, ADC Mon & Administrator, Mon Town Council, Y Chingyak Konyak, NCS, on May 24 issued an order directing all concerned to clear all the excavated earth, construction materials, fire woods, etc. dumped over public roads and drainage within two weeks from the date of issue of the order. “Failure to comply, will invite forceful removal of the materials and legal action being initiated as per appropriate code of law,” an order from the ADC Mon stated. 

House in Wokha town sealed for another 7 days 

Wokha, May 24 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Task Force COVID-19 Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has informed that regarding detection of positive cases and in the interest of public health safety, the sealing of a house at Church Colony, Wokha Town is extended for another seven days with effect from May 23 till further order. “Any persons violating this containment measures will be liable to be persecuted as per the provision of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC,” the order stated. Meanwhile, the DC also informed that Dr MM District Hospital, Wokha is “unsealed” with immediate effect.

FGN condoles

Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has conveyed condolence on the demise of Lt Col Vesüyi, who passed away on May 23 at Phek Hospital with an assigned duty as the Chaplain of 13th Bn 5th B’de S/C Naga Army. A press note from FGN stated that late Vesüyi joined National Defence Service on February 12, 1990 and faithfully served the Nation till his last breath. The FGN conveyed condolence message to the bereaved family members and prayed that may the Almighty God protect and grant them solace and peace at this hour of grief. They also prayed for his soul to rest in peace with God.
