NLA’s Committee on Estimates to sit on May 11

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): K Tokugha Sukhalu, Advisor and Chairman of the Committee on Estimates, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) has convened a sitting of the committee on May 11 from  11am in the committee room of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. A notification from the NLA Secretariat has informed all members of the committee to make it convenient to attend the meeting, as scheduled. 

Mass social work in Notun Bosti

Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD) will be organising a mass social work on May 6, from 6 am onwards within the colony jurisdiction. In this connection, the council has informed, all the residents and business establishments located within the colony to clean their respective surrounding areas and drainage. Those failing to participate in the social work will face necessary action, stated a press release from Chairman, Imkongnukshi Imchen and Secretary, Kavito Ayemi.

Treasury office in Chümoukedima now fully functional 

Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): In pursuance of a directive of Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts Service, Nagaland, the Senior Treasury Officer Dimapur has notified on  that Office of the Senior Treasury Officer, Chümoukedima is fully functional for payment of monthly pension salary.  Accordingly, the notification informed pensioner's opting to draw their monthly salary from Chümoukedima Treasury to apply for transfer through proper application. 

Nagaland formulating modalities for children admission 

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Principal Director of School Education has notified that the modalities for the implementation of the provisions of the ‘Nagaland Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Manner of admission of Minimum 25 % children in Class I or Pre-school at the entry level for the children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections) Rules, 2016’ are being formulated by the Department.  The notification is in continuation of an earlier such notice by the Directorate of School Education.
Accordingly, the Principal Director has informed all concerned to wait for the notification regarding the modalities for the implementation of the provisions of Section 12 (1) (C) of the RTE Act, 2009, informed a DIPR report. “Till such time, this Office Notification of even number dated 12th April 2023 shall be kept on hold,” it added. 

NU introduces MA Anthropology

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University introduced Master of Arts Degree in the Anthropology Department in addition to Masters of Science Degree with effect from Academic Session 2023-24. With this, students with Arts background to UG (Under Graduate) would be awarded for MA Degree in Anthropology. As per a DIPR report, a notification from the NU Registrar on April 25 stated that the introduction is subject to ratification by the University's Academic Council.

NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) extend greetings

Dimapur, may 4 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has extended greetings to the Khiamniungan Nagas on the occasion of Miu festival falling on May 5 and celebrated to offer prayers for good crop and harvest. “The other purpose of the Miu festival is to build and reinforce relations between a maternal uncle and his nephews and nieces where the maternal uncle offers prayers for granting prosperity and power over enemies to his nephews and nieces,” it stated in message.  "May prosperity, strength and good health prevail upon our Khiamniungans brothers and sisters, so as to enable them to continue to strengthen the bond of oneness and love amongst Naga families,” added the message issued via MIP, NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi).
