
DOA&C calls for research proposals on North East folk and tribal art forms
KOHIMA, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The Directorate of Art and Culture (DOA&C), Kohima, has invited applications from renowned scholars interested in undertaking research-oriented documentation work under the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur. The projects focus on documenting folk and tribal music, dances, and vanishing art forms across the North Eastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Applicants must be Indian citizens and indigenous inhabitants of the respective states. Selection of project proposals will be finalized by a panel of experts constituted by NEZCC. Application forms and other details are available at the offices of the Directorate of Art & Culture/Cultural Affairs in the concerned states, Shilpgram, Pangabari, Guwahati, and on the NEZCC website https://nezccindia.org.in/home/advertisement and https://www.facebook.com/nezcc. The last date for submission of applications is October 31, 2025. Applications received thereafter will not be accepted. The Director, NEZCC, reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
Wokha DC issues traffic regulation for road construction
WOKHA, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, has issued a public directive regarding ongoing road and side drainage construction from Police Point to Molonsu Colony Junction. According to the directive, to ensure public safety, smooth vehicular movement, and traffic discipline, the road stretch from Police Point to the Bazar area will remain completely closed for two months starting from October 9. As part of the regulation, the taxi stand at Tsumang Ward has been temporarily relocated until the completion of the construction works. Taxis arriving from the Bhandari side are instructed to park at the NST Bus Stand area, while those arriving from Kohima side are to park near the Fishery Office area. All taxi owners and commuters are directed to strictly follow the relocation order, and non-compliance will attract strict legal action. The directive has been issued in the interest of public convenience and to facilitate the effective execution of the construction works.

Kohima, October 10 (MExN): The Ura Academy Kohima is all set to hold annual writers and poets meet from October 29 to 30 at the Ura Academy Hall, Mission Road, Kohima. Writers and poets have been invited to the meet and requested to inform the office bearers of Ura Academy if they have any new books to be released during the annual meet. DC Longleng schedules driving test, interview for taxi permit applicants
LONGLENG, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng has notified that the driving test and interview for issuance of two-wheeler taxi permits will be held on October 16 for candidates who have applied under the Transport Department’s notification dated January 29. The driving test will commence at 8:30 AM at the Public Ground, Longleng, followed by the interview at 2:00 pm at the DC office, Longleng. Applicants are required to bring their own Scooty and original driving license. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed at the DC office. All candidates have been directed to report at the respective venues on time.
DLCC meeting on CRS held in Longleng
LONGLENG, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): A District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting on Civil Registration System was held on October 10, at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, W. Manpai Phom. Deputy Director and District Economics & Statistics Officer, Nyushotho Nyuthe, presented an overview of the Civil Registration System and expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and department officials for their support. Key discussions during the meeting included the inclusion of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and CDPO (Social Welfare) as DLCC members, strengthening coordination with the Education and Medical departments, improving communication with village-level registrars, submission of death reports with MCCD forms, and raising awareness on registration of births and deaths. Notifications on these initiatives were also planned.
Transport office Longleng notifies
LONGLENG, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The Transport Office, Longleng, in pursuance of the Regional Transport Authority, Mokokchung, has announced a Camp Office-cum-Enforcement Drive at Longleng town from October 15 to 17. During the camp, officials from the Regional Transport Office, Mokokchung, will facilitate services related to driving licenses, motor vehicle registration, and enforcement, in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, 1989. Applicants for Learner Driving Licenses (LDL) are required to produce proof of identity, including Aadhaar card, ID/Passport, and recent passport-size photographs. The department urged the public to avail themselves of the special services provided during the camp.
