The exercise, being carried out statewide by the Election Department, requires Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to conduct house-to-house verification and collect forms under designated supervision. Phek Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Pritpal Kaur inaugurated a new Police Gym at the Phek Police Reserve, aimed at improving the health, fitness and welfare of police personnel and their families. This Gym was built for Phek Police family in the pursuit of health, strength and well being. Dr Kaur said the gym was started because the police reserve does not have a proper ground for physical activities. “Healthy police will serve society in a better and efficient way,” she said.State College of Teacher Education (SCTE), Kohima celebrated its 3rd Graduation Day on August 12, conferring B.Ed degrees to 44 students. Prof. Gyanendra Nath Tiwari was the Graduation Guest. The event included addresses by Dr Khriezonuo Belho and Dr Asale Vitso, a graduates' speech by Rizi Sangtam, and special awards presented by Khrieno. Testimonials went to four graduates, while Swedezhonuo Kirha received a Commendation Certificate for ranking 18th in Nagaland University's B.Ed Top 20. The programme was compered by Anisha Himb and ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Thronlem Jorlim Konyak.During a visit to Kripa Foundation on August 15, members of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) interacted with inmates and staff. KP Ezung, Assistant Director, shared that the centre relies solely on inmate fees, with no government aid, unlike neighbouring states where such centres receive full state support. He also noted that high detoxification medication costs deter many from seeking treatment. Currently, the centre houses 22 inmates. The KPC team, comprising executives and members, donated kitchen essentials and other amenities.The Rotary Club of Dimapur installed a reverse-osmosis (RO) drinking water facility at the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) in Chümoukedima on August 17, as part of its pilot Water and Sanitation Programme under Rotary International’s WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Area of Focus. The initiative aims to provide safe, accessible drinking water for office visitors and the local community, helping prevent waterborne diseases and improve public health. ADCP Chümoukedima Veni Vese inaugurated the facility in the presence of police personnel, Rotarians, and guests. SIR is an exercise undertaken by the Election Commission of India to verify and revise electoral rolls through house-to-house enumeration, pre-filled forms, and verification of old voter data.
