A book titled ‘Ray of Inspiration’ written by Rev Dr T Alemmeren was released by K Temjen Jamir, Editor, Tir Yimyim at The Lighthouse Church, Dimapur on July 1. ‘Ray of Inspiration’ is a collection of 93 poems written by Rev Dr T Alemmeren and edited by Dr Akumla Longkumer. The function was chaired by Wapang Longchari, pastor, TLC and welcome address was delivered by Narola Keitzer.

 
National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Dimapur district observed anti-malaria month in ten villages under the theme ‘reaching the zero malaria target’ with an aim to spread awareness on anti-malaria measures and mobilize the community to take responsibility and take active participation in the fight against malaria and other vector borne diseases. Activities such as miking on keynote factors of malaria, poster campaign, blood slide sample collection, and message for effective usage of long lasting insecticidal nets were conducted. The month long observation was supervised and monitored by Dr A Kavito Zhimomi, DVBO and active field participation of MTSs, SMIs, SIs, SWs and ASHAs during the observation in carrying out anti-malaria activities and mobilizing the public. The activities were carried with the support and co-ordination of the respective village authorities. 

 
Medical Department along with District Administration carried out sensitization cum vaccination drive on COVID vaccine under Peren district on June 29 and 30. The team covered Jalukiekam village, Jalukiezangdi village, Samzuiram village, New Chalkot village and also the Auto Drivers Union, Jalukie. It was led by Dr Tinujongshi Chang, ADC Jalukie along with Rumbemo T Kithan EAC Ngwalwa, Dr Lanuakum, Dy CMO, Dr Kiholi Chishi, DPO UIP/RCH, Dr Viholi ZLO, Dr Hedungkiebe, DSO, Elizabeth Jamir, DPM, IEC personnel and vaccinators. They sensitize village leaders and villagers on COVID vaccine and the importance to be vaccinated and also carried out on spot vaccination drive. Medical staff makes public announcement at Upper Bhagty area in Wokha as part of the observance of anti-malaria month observed under the theme ‘Reaching the Zero Malaria Target.’ Dr William Humtsoe, District Surveillance Officer, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Wokha informed that anti-malaria activities were conducted in 10 villages across the district where endemicity of malaria are higher and hard to reach areas. Fever screening, miking, checking of long lasting insecticidal nets usage and awareness on prevention and control of malaria were carried out in these villages, he added. ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng conducted rural youth training programme from June 28 to 30 at KVK training hall, Longleng. It was organised with the aim to take up poultry farming for sustainable income generation. Lectures on management practices of chicks, grower and layer poultry birds, incidence of diseases and its control, importance of sanitation and hygiene were delivered during the training. Nagaland Brahman Samaj under its program to provide relief materials to needy people distributed 50 packets of dry ration and essential as 15 days ration for a family of four.

To commemorate the celebration of Tuluni festival, Sümis residing at Naga United village, Dimapur cleaned the village area and roadside areas (akübalaghe) from Old Showuba gate to Naga United village gate on July 1. It was initiated by Sümi Community Naga United village. In a press release, it stated that Tuluni is the festival of Sümi celebrated from July 1 to 8 every year. “It was the practice of our forefathers to clean the village area and clear the pathways (akübalaghe) to commence the festival,” it stated. 

 
Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Nagaland reached out to people in need at Zukiye village in Dimapur. The initiation was carried out under the project, ‘heal the world’ of Y’s men and YMCA India. A press release received here stated that the President, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema along with office bearers took the lead and visited 30 widows and 20 BPL homes and distributed essential commodities such as rice, lentils, oil, vegetables and hygiene essentials.
