A modern computer-based simulator firing range for NCC cadets of Nagaland was inaugurated by NCC Group Commander Brigadier, Praveen Singh Sangwan on April 13. It is located in the 1 Naga Girls NCC Battalion premises behind the Sainik Bhawan, near High School Junction in Kohima. The simulator-based firing range has the facility to fire with 22 Rifles in simulated conditions akin to the actual firing range of 25 meters in lying, kneeling, sitting or standing positions. K Libanthung Lotha, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Soil & Water Conservation department released a booklet entitled, ‘Meteorological report of Nagaland 2021’ at his office chamber on April 13, in the presence of the department officials. The booklet was published by the Soil Survey & Land Use planning Wing of the Department.

A mock drill on earthquake preparedness was conducted at Christian Baptist School Tseminyu old Town on April 12. It was organized by NSDMA in collaboration with NDRF, SDRF, District Administration, police, and different departments of the district. Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Dr Zasekuolie Chusi IAS presided over the mock drill. The attendees were trained on evacuation drills, search and rescue, and emergency response & coordination during natural calamities. Additionally, the police personnel were trained in first aid for emergency response. ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema and KVK Phek jointly conducted HRD training programme on measuring agricultural sustainability at ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema on April 13. Dr Prem Chand, Senior Scientist, ICAR- National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi delivered presentation virtually on ‘Agricultural Sustainability issues in India and Agricultural Sustainability of Indian States and Assessment of livestock sustainability at meso and micro level.’ Prof Amod Sharma, HoD, Department of Agricultural Economics, NU SASRD spoke on the importance of ‘Agricultural development and marketing status: An overview of North East Region.’ Altogether 15 farmers and officials from NU SASRD, ICAR-NEHR for Nagaland Centre, ICAR NRC on Mithun, KVKs of Nagaland, Department of Agriculture, Dimapur and Central Institute of Horticulture participated in the programme.
