Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under Spear Corps assisted the PWD, Pungro in clearing a major landslide at Pungro- Longkhimong village, Kiphire district from August 18 to 25. The PRO Def, in a press release, informed that a major landslide occured on the Pungro-Mimi axis near Longkhimong village on August 17 blocking all movement towards the border villages. Longkhimong village council approached AR for providing assistance in opening the road as it is their lifeline and its closure would affect the villagers significantly. The AR immediately responded and commenced the work with PWD in spite of incessant rains and with combined efforts, the road was cleared in 7 days. (Photo Courtesy: PRO Def)

 
Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur Dr I Moatemjen inaugurated the Zuvukhu Sub-Center new building by unveiling the inaugural plaque on August 27. ATMA Shamator block conducted various activities with Yonkonglimba, Horticulture Inspector, as the resource person on July 30. Within district Exposure visit was organised at Yakor village in a Bee-keeping farm. Several bee enthusiasts from nearby villages and from Yakor village attended the programme. Training and demonstrations were also conducted at Lasikiur village by Imlinukshi ATM, Shamator and Kezhalesie ATM, Shamator. As part of the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0, CISF ASG Dimapur went for a hike to Chümoukedima Peak View Point, Dimapur which is 3km approx from the main highway, along with a local Club- NMUSC. Altogether 35 personnel participated in the event held on August 27.

 
Charity screening camp for ear hearing with free treatment and hearing aids was held at CHC Yachem village on August 27. Neighbouring villages of Noksosang, Yaongyimchen, Alayong and Sanglu also attended the camp. Altogether 84 patients were benefited and avail free treatment from the camp. As a COVID Response Project by Rotary Club of Sainte Marie Garros Centenaire (Reunion Island France), Indian Business Club (Paris, France), Rotary Club of Mumbai Ghatkopar, Rotary Club of Nagpur South East, Indian Chamber of International Business (France) along with the Host Club–Rotary Club of Kohima donated three sets of oxygen concentrators to the department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland at Chief Minister Office, Kohima on August 26. Chief Medical Officer, Kohima office along with District Health Society, NHM, Department of Health & Family Welfare conducted training for Urban Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) on Pediatric Care in COVID-19 at Viswema CHC on August 26. Dr Akatoli Angto, MO (Pediatrician) and Dr Kekhrieneizo Peseyie, MO Chiephobozou CHC were the resource persons. Dr Kevilhoulie Meyase, DSO and Dr Asano Sophie, MO Jakhama PHC also spoke during the training. ASHAs were informed about the roles and responsibilities in the ward, colonies and community. DSO, Medical officer, BPM & Block Asha Co-ordinator attended the training.

 
Phek district conducted training for Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHAs) on paediatric care in COVID-19 related issues from August 24 to 27. The ASHAs were trained on the danger signs, surveillance, signs and symptoms of COVID in paediatric, how to respond correctly the prevailing myths related to COVID-19 in children, management of Neontal and childhood illness etc. The resource persons were Dr Seyiekhrietuo Paediatric DH Phek, SMOs, Block MOs, DCM, BACs and CHOs.

 
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kohima celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the theme ‘Food and Nutrition for farmers’ and organised a training with Khekali Sema ACTO (Horticulture) and Zhiete ACTO (Soil Science) as the resource persons. Dr Temjennungsang ACTO (Animal Science) highlighted on rabbit farming under animal husbandry. Around 30 farmers from New Tesophenyu, Chunlikha, Tesophenyu and Tseminyu participated in the programme.

 
National campaign on food and nutrition for farmers was organized by KVK Tuensang at KVK office complex on August 26. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar addressed the nation and also released a book. The other events that took place offline included highlighting the importance of food and nutrition to the farmers, enhancement of income through seed production and entrepreneurship development which were delivered by Dr Martina Shitiri ACTO and Longma Yanger ACTO. The participants visited vermicompost unit, Low cost hydrophonics unit and winter vegetable nursery bed where the importance of each unit were highlighted by Seveto Nyekha, Technical Officer. On the occasion of 'National Sports Day' on August 29, Lion Club of Dimapur Japfu, in collaboration with Tennis Volleyball Association of Nagaland organized the game of tennis volleyball among the students of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School Dimapur. The game is the combination of Tennis and Volleyball.

Gorkha Public Panchayat, Kohima (GPPK) observed Balidan Diwas in memory of Saheed Major Durga Malla and Saheed Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse and other martyrs at GPPK Hall on August 25. GPPK President, Santu Thapa shared the significance of the day. An awareness and sensitization on COVID-19 vaccination programme was conducted with Dr Rukuto, MO I/c Dungki PHC as resource person at Lamhai village, Peren on August 27. The Alumni Apartment of Baptist High was launched at the school auditorium on August 27 with Rovilato Mor, an alumnus of the school and the present Commissioner, Government of Nagaland.
