In celebration of the Tsüngremmong festival, Ao Lanur Telongjem Chümoukedima (ALTC) successfully organized a social work event on August 1. This annual initiative, led by the ALTC, aims to commemorate the festival through meaningful community service activities. This year’s social work focused on cleaning and the painting of the iconic Patkai Bridge at Chümoukedima. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Ao members, reflecting a strong commitment toward environmental cleanliness and civic responsibility. Ao Lanur Telongjem Chümoukedima has extended gratitude to all the volunteers who contributed to the event. Special thanks go to the Councillor of Chümoukedima Town Ward-1 and her family for their generous support and donation of refreshments for all participants.
A three-day in-service teachers’ training on Innovative Teaching was conducted at EBRC Ahthibung by resource persons from DIET Wokha. The training, which began on July 31, concluded on August 1, with 40 teachers from schools under EBRC Ahthibung participating. Chungminthang Singson, Coordinator of EBRC Ahthibung, expressed gratitude on behalf of the participating teachers. He thanked Principal Mhonbeni Kikon, Training Coordinator Dr L Yanthan, and the resource persons from DIET Wokha.
ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, concluded a seven-day internship programme for veterinary students from College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CVSc & AH), CAU, Jalukie. The programme, held from July 25 to 31, focused on hands-on training in various aspects of Mithun management, including scientific animal husbandry and veterinary practices. Structured with daily assessments and reporting, the programme ensured the quality and effectiveness of the training. The internship was supervised by Senior Scientist Dr Kobu Khate and Scientist Dr Narendra VN.The 11th convocation of Institute of Christian Leadership Training (ICLT) under Liangmai Baptist Association (LBA) was held under the theme ‘Be ready in season and out of season’ at Mission Centre Tening on July 31. Rev NK Joseph, Secretary Men Department LBA was the main speaker. The programme was presided by Kijiule LBA Office Assistant and special music was presented by members of Tening Village Baptist Church Youth. The benediction prayer was said by Pastor Nampibo Nkwareu Baptist Church.St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, in collaboration with ICAR-NRC on Mithun and Department of Biotechnology, organized a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to raise awareness among students and researchers. The event, held at the university’s seminar hall, was chaired by Dr Lorenbeni Kikon, Assistant Professor of Biotechnology. The programme featured a motivational talk by Dr Jayanta Kumar Chamuah, Senior Scientist at ICAR-NRCM, followed by an insightful overview of IPR in India presented by Dr Narendra VN, Scientist at ICAR-NRCM. An interactive quiz competition was also conducted to engage participants.Research Forum of Department of English, St Joseph University, Chümoukedima hosted its ‘Scholastic Day’ under the theme Research Scholars’ Guidance and Progress Assessment Program, a platform for research scholars to present their ongoing academic work on July 30. A total of 40 participants attended the programme, where scholars delivered presentations showcasing their research findings and methodologies. The session was evaluated by Dr Thokchom Sunanda Devi, Head of the Department and Dr Alemmenla Walling, Coordinator of the Research Forum. Both Evaluators offered insightful feedback and guidance, fostering academic excellence and strengthening the department’s research culture. In support of school children during ongoing monsoon season, MLA of 9th Kohima Town Constituency, Dr. Tseilhotuo (Ato) Rhutso distributes umbrellas to the students of Government Schools at Naga Bazaar and New Market, Kohima on July 31.Zeliang Students’ Union Dimapur welcomed Mairidin Newmai at Dimapur Airport following his victory as the Main Event fighter (Bantamweight 61 KG) at the Ronin Fighting Championship in Bangalore on July 26. The union congratulated him for his outstanding achievement, which brought immense pride to the Zeliang community and Nagas as a whole. Mairidin Newmai Competed at the Main Event (Bantamweight Category-61kgs) against Prakhar Shubashanh of Sikkim at Ronin Fighting Championship held in Bangalore on July 26.
