A flock of sheep is grazing openly on the roadside in Molvom along the Jharnapani via Molvom-Peren highway on April 19. According to the 20th Livestock Census, conducted in 2019 by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying under the Union Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, there were a total of 360 sheep in Nagaland, with 199 designated as indigenous. According to the Annual Administrative Report 2022-23 of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences Department, Nagaland has one state farm for sheep. In recent years, the Government-managed Sheep Farm, located within Poilwa Village of Ngwalwa Circle, Peren district, has emerged as an attractive tourist destination in Nagaland. (Morung Photo)
