An oath taking ceremony of State Information Commissioner (SIC) in respect of State of Nagaland was held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on November 30. On the occasion of 66th Raising day Zunheboto Battalion, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector Assam Rifles, HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) paid homage at Unit War Memorial by conducting wreath laying. “To remember and honour the supreme sacrifices of the fallen heroes proper military ceremonial event was organized,” Major Prince Joy Fernandaz, 11th Assam Rifles, Zunheboto stated in a press release.
A book titled ‘Christianity and Social Transformation among Tribes of NEI: Essays in Honour of Frederick S Downs’ was released was released at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat on November 30. The book was released by Rev Prof Dr Shimreingam Shimray, Principal, ETC. A special prayer was offered by Rev Prof Dr Razouselie Lasetso, Vice Principal, ETC. The book is edited by Rev Prof Dr Wati Longchar, Rev Prof Dr Woba James and Rev Dr Elungkiebe Zeliang. The book consists of articles from scholars representing the states of North East India.
Indian Navy conducted a two-day multi-specialty medical and wellness camp at Niuland on November 29 and 30. Altogether 698 patients from Niuland and surrounding villages availed the Specialist Consultation in Medicine, Pediatrics, Obs & Gynae, Radiology, Eye, ENT, Dental and Public Health. The services offered during the camp besides specialist consultation were free medicines, complete body analyzer, bone mineral densitometry, ultrasonography, lab investigations and anthropometry, stated a press release. Some of the cases diagnosed included gall bladder polyp, cholecystitis, renal calculi, impetigo in infant, lower respiratory tract infection in children, presbycusis in elderly, glaucoma and cataract etc. 23 extractions of teeth and 57 teeth restorations were carried by Naval Dental Surgeon. Health education on topic relevant to local population was also undertaken on Cancer prevention, Oral hygiene, preparation of ORS, etc.
Director Rural Development, Liboni Humtsoe along with the outgoing staffs of RD during a farewell programme held on November 30 at RD directorate. The outgoing staffs are Vikhoho Vitso, Typist Sr, Imkumzukba, Driver, Avishe, Driver, Zheyito, peon and Nixeshe Sema, peon.
