90 active cases; more than 53% ‘recovered’

No fresh COVID-19 cases or recoveries were reported in Nagaland on Thursday and the total infections as of 3 PM, on June 18 stood at 193.  


Out of this, there were 90 active cases while the rest -103 were reported as ‘recovered’ denoting a recovery rate of 53.36%.


“Out of 317 samples tested, no positive cases for COVID-19 have been reported. Positive : 193 Active : 90 Recovered : 103 Death : 00 Update at 8:25 AM, 18th June, 2020,” informed State’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom on Twitter Thursday morning. 


The State recorded 14 new cases on Wednesday taking the total number of positive cases for COVID-19 to 193.
Dimapur still has the highest number of active cases at 39, followed by Kohima and Mon at 21 each. Tuensang, which was free of the active cases till June 16, also reported one fresh case on June 17.  Other actives cases include 8 in Peren for a State’s total of 90.


Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha informed during his daily briefing on Wednesday that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.  “As per the severity of symptoms, all the 90 active cases are asymptomatic,” he added.


According to Nagaland COVID-19 Dashboard, the distribution of the 193 positive cases by age are as follows:  5 cases between 0-17 years;180 cases between 18-44 years;  7 cases between 45-64 years; and1 cases between 65-74 years.


Gender-wise, out of the total cases, 123 (63.73%) are males and while the rest 70 (36.26%) are females.
