Nagaland to observe World Consumer Rights Day

DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): Along with the rest of the world, Nagaland will observe the ‘World Consumer Rights Day’ on March 15 with this year's theme being - “Building a digital world consumers can trust.”

The event will be held in Kohima and in all the district headquarters as well. The Government of Nagaland particularly the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LMCP) and Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organisation (NVCO) is organising a state level programme particularly for the teachers at State College of Teacher Education, Kohima with Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi President NVCO & national award recipient as Speaker.

Hekishe Sema, Principal, State College of Teacher Education, will deliver a keynote address. More than 200 teachers are expected to attend the observance of world consumer rights day knowing the importance of ‘Consumer Education’ in the schools of Nagaland.

A press note from the NVCO stated that as consumer rights awareness is still lacking in the state, the best awareness can spread by the teachers.

“Unlike other states, ‘Consumer Education’ is yet to be introduced in our state elementary school syllabus,” it stated. Pamphlets will also be distributed to all the participants. There will be a discussion hour followed by closing remarks.
