Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Special Judge, Fast Track Special Court Dimapur, V Nyekha has convicted one person for raping his neighbor’s minor daughter.
In an order dated June 29, the Special Judge sentenced Tsenyemo Ngullie to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of Rs 20,000 for raping the victim who was 10 years old at the time of commission of the offence.
The accused was convicted under section 4 & 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act 2012, Imlimongla, Special Public Prosecutor informed in a press release on Tuesday.
The case was registered in Dimapur Women PS and investigated by SI Lucy Doungel. As per the release, while pronouncing the judgment and order, the Special Judge observed and stated that sexual violence, apart from being a dehumanizing act, is an unlawful intrusion on the right of privacy and sanctity of a female. “A rapist not only causes physical injuries but more indelibly leaves a scar on the most cherished possession of woman i.e, her dignity, honour, reputation and not the least her chastity and such offenders does not deserve a place in the society,” it added.
