Nagaland online folktale story telling competition

Kohima, July 4 (MExN): A visual production house ‘Naga Manu Production’ is organizing the first Nagaland online folktale story telling competition with the theme “Spreading wings to the untold Naga folklores.”

This competition aims to conserve and spread the message of preserving the traditional folktales being passed down from generation to generation.

 “With this tradition slowly fading, we are losing the good old stories of our forefathers. This competition is being organised with the view to preserve and present the folklores as oral documents for the future generations,” the organizer stated.

The competition will be on virtual mode and is free entry, while participants can start their video submission from July 5 onwards which will be uploaded on Naga Manu Production (YouTube) on first come first basis and the last date for entry is July 25.

Result will be declared on August 8. The judges includes; Vishü Rita Krocha, Publisher, PenThrill Publication House, Alice Yhoshü, President, Kohima Press Club (KPC) and Asonuo, News Editor,  All India Radio (AIR), Kohima.

Participants can mail their videos to Nagamanulaga@gmail.com or via WhatsApp document to 9916580774, while the story narration should be submitted along with name, age, contact number and tribe.

Entries shall be judged based on: presentation skills; relevance/significance; creativity; factual and authenticity and moral of the story.

Further, the organizer stated that the entry (story) can be in any local language along with English subtitles which should not exceed 4 minutes and less background music.

The competition is open to all inhabitants of Nagaland with no age limit, while the story should be based on Naga folktales and there is no dress code; however, participants are encouraged to use their traditional attire.

The first prize amounting to Rs 6,000 and second prize of Rs 4,000 is sponsored by Kuvelu Tetseo (Tetseo Sisters) The youngest participant will be awarded Rs 1,000 sponsored by Naroh Décor, Kohima. There will also be special award for People’s Choice award and Judges choice award with Rs 1,000 each.
