Longleng, June 19 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom accompanied by Secretary, H&FW visited Longleng and held a COVID-19 review meeting with the District Tasks Force, civil societies and churches at DC's office complex, Longleng on June 19.
Addressing the gathering, Pangnyu informed that the purpose of the visit was to take stock of the situation. He informed out that unlike the first wave, the second wave has caused huge casualties in the country not because of lack of medical facilities but due to negligence of patients who come to the hospital at the last hour.
He appealed to all the government officers and staff posted in the district to come forward and extend helping hand to the medical department and the people during this crucial time.
The Minister also informed that as per the direction of the Central Government, the ongoing lockdown will continue in the state till the COVID-19 case is below 5% and asserted that at present Nagaland stands at 9.3%.
Asserting that the Government is giving special focus on the health sector to combat the pandemic, he said the PDA government is committed to upgrade the overall health care facilities of the State and cater best service to the needs of the people.
He informed that government has decided to deduct 10% from LADP and another 15% from common pool to purchase urgent medical requirements such as pulseoximeter and oxygen concentrator to every functioning sub-center in the State. In this regard, he directed the DTF to make assessment of the required equipment in the district.
Meanwhile, Pangnyu also congratulated the District Tasks Force led by the Deputy Commissioner, district administration, police, medical personnel, VGs, NGOs, civil societies and churches for working together as a family to combat the pandemic and making Longleng as one of the successful districts in the state.
Welcome address was proposed by Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, M Shayung Phom while short speeches were delivered by Senior Superintendent of Police; Secretary H&FW, Wezope Kenye, IAS; Joint Director H&FW, Dr Kikameren; CMO Longleng, Medical Superintendent Longleng, Dr Imnameren, representative of PPC, President PSC and EAC Tamlu, Khriethozo Pfukri on behalf of Tamlu sub-division. The program was chaired by EAC Longleng, Pichano Kikon.
The Minister and his entourage inspected the District Hospital and held internal meeting with the doctors and nurses. He also visited Isolation Home, Community Care Centre and ongoing sub-jail construction.
