With the Union Government announcing enabling of on-site registration and appointment for 18-44 years age group on CoWIN portal, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland (DOHFW) has informed that it has adopted flexible policy for the registration of the cohort.

A press release from the State Immunisation Officer (SIO) Dr Ritu Thurr on May 26 informed that districts will continue to “plan and publish 100% online booking sessions at urban areas i.e. district hospitals (DHs) and Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC).”

However, a provision for maximum of 10 slots for on-site registration will be allowed in case of any leftover doses to avoid wastage, it said.

In rural areas – Community and Primary Health Centre (CHC and PHC), as per feasibility may plan “100% on-site sessions for the convenience of rural beneficiaries in availing vaccination,” it added.

Meanwhile, the release informed that the capacity of vaccination slots and days (Monday and Tuesday) of vaccination reserved for 18-44 years category will remain unchanged till the State has more access to vaccines and will be published online every Wednesday at 9:00 am for the following week.

Keeping in mind low availability of vaccines and to prevent overcrowding, the State has made partial modification, it added.

Meanwhile, as of May 25, in the 2nd cycle for vaccination of the 18-44 years age group, a total of 18597 have received their doses so far.

Overall, a total of 2, 67,638 doses have been administrated in the State till May 27.

It must be noted here that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on May 24 that on-site Registration/Facilitated Cohort Registration feature in addition to Online Appointment for 18-44 years age group has been now been enabled on CoWIN portal.

However, the feature is being enabled only for Government COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs), and not for Private CVCs, it added.
